The depot opened in 1889 with D C Bristow in charge. The depot has had numerous changes- telegraph in 1889, electricity in 1921, and remodeling in 1936 when a storm almost destroyed the structure as well as the demolishing of the south end to make space for the expansion of East Main St."

The old MKT depot has been moved and restored. It is just South of its' original location on Main St. It is now at the tracks and Pecan Street
