The Sanger,TX ATSF Depot is loaded up on wheels and ready to move. They have cut the building into two parts. The passenger section and the freight section. It is a fairly large structure of all wood. Should be interesting to see it going down the road, especially if it is going all the way to Tioga, Texas. The station was moved from the railroad property a number of years ago about a block from the tracks. The Moving company is the one from Ft. Worth that moved Tower 19. (Update - 8/99) - The Sanger GC&SF depot is on the south side of Tioga along US 377, 0.9 mi. south of the post office in Tioga, Gene Autry's birthplace. It's on the west side of the highway, between the road and the old T&P/M-K-T joint track (now Union Pacific). The two halves have not been unloaded and re-joined yet. The owner plans on making a bar/restaraunt out of the building. Submitted by Robert K Tickner, J.P.Hazelton & Harry R. "Bear" Brown | |
